317 MAIN PARTNERS WITH WYAR-FM TO AIR MUSIC MADE IN YARMOUTH

It’s a partnership that was meant to be. WYAR-FM, has been broadcasting great music from the American songbook out of a studio on Cousins Island since 1998. Across the bridge in Yarmouth village, 317 Main Community Music Center students and teaching artists have been making music since 2003.

Selected concerts from 317 Main’s Noon Tunes concert series will begin airing on the Yarmouth-based radio station, Tuesdays at Noon and Thursdays at 6:00 PM. The performances, featuring 317 Main teaching artists, are recorded live in the cafe and post-produced and hosted by Fred Frawley, a 317 Main board member.

“The quality of these concerts is very high,” said Music Education Director Chris Moore. “Now instead of playing to the room’s capacity of around 30 or so, our teaching artists can be heard as far as 1000 watts can carry them.”

“Heritage Radio Society and WYAR-FM are delighted to add the Noon Tunes programs to our schedule of broadcasting in the public interest,” said Jim Brown, Assistant Station Manager for WYAR. “We look forward to a rewarding and creative partnership through the new year.”

Both non-profits see the new partnership as the beginning of a more extensive collaboration in the future.
